thinking...
About the past year, and the year to come. This weekend brings our first wedding anniversary, and I'm having a hard time believing 365 days have very nearly gone by. Everyone says this, but it really went by in a blink of an eye. Despite the pace, it's been a wonderful year. We found a new home, I graduated college, Paul went back to college, I got a full-time job, and we made a real effort to be healthier. That's not to say there weren't also challenges in that year, but we were able to gracefully overcome them and find happiness in spite of them.

We're making lots of plans for this coming year. You can expect quite a bit of travel, photography, and little projects showing up here as a result. Our second year of marriage will bring lots of laughter and love.

reading...
Quite a bit. I've completed four books so far in February, and I've loved all of them.

First up was The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, whose long name threw me off a little in the beginning. It's a wonderful epistolary (written in letters) novel that shows a different look at Europe after the Second World War.

I waited over a year to read Cress by Marissa Meyer, and now I've got to wait another year for the next one. The Lunar Chronicles series is an awesome futuristic fractured fairytale--a total win in my book.

This morning, I finished up How to Love by Katie Cotugno. I was intrigued because it takes place in Broward County, Florida, not too far away from here. The format of jumping back and forth in time between each chapter was really interesting to me, and the messy, young love drew me in.

I may actually buy my own copy of Made by Hand by Lena Corwin after reading my library copy. There are SO many wonderful beginner's projects in here. I've been wanting to try out some new crafts at home, and this is the perfect starting point. On my must-try list? Tea-dyeing, batik fabrics, and some embroidery.

listening to...
Mostly our local public radio, WJCT. Paul and I prefer to hear about the news on the radio, rather than on television. NPR and First Coast Connect are much more interesting to us than the local tv news stations.

Otherwise, there's been a lot of Top 40 on in my car, I'm embarrassed to admit. I love learning the words and singing along at the top of my lungs on the way to work!

working on...
Cleaning our house, and trying to keep it that way! I've been a sweeping, laundry-washing, vacuuming fool around here. I feel like I need to make up a cleaning schedule to keep track of what needs to be done. Anyone have a good one I could copy?

Also, I've been putting together our short first anniversary Disney trip! We'll only be there for one night, but I've already sorted out our hotel (it's a secret!), fast pass plus reservations for each park, and our anniversary dinner at the Flying Fish Cafe. Cannot wait to drive down there on Sunday morning.

enjoying...
Our quiet life right now. I saw this print on Pinterest a few weeks ago, and it really spoke to me: It's okay to be happy with a calm life. We don't go out too much, and are happy to stay in together, make good coffee, read together, and sometimes emerge for little trips to Jacksonville and Orlando. It's just us in our little house together, and I love it. We can hear the ocean, feel it's breeze, and it's just what we need.

What about you? What are you up to lately?
