Disney World Honeymoon: Evening Two.

I'm trying to space out these Disney posts so that they're not repetitive, but it now feels like this trip was so long ago! Summer is drawing to a close, and we are nearing our six month anniversary. Wow!





After having dinner at the Animal Kingdom Lodge earlier in the day, we hopped a bus to Downtown Disney to have a look around. After a quick walkthrough (it was crazy!), we rode the ferry back to our resort to get changed for the evening.




From there, we grabbed a bus headed for Hollywood Studios for an awesome fireworks and water show called Fantasmic! While I held onto our seats, Paul walked up to the concessions stand to get us some hot chocolate and popcorn which happened to be served in an R2-D2 container! Despite being in May, the nights were still a tad chilly, so the warm treats were perfect.




Near the end of the show, we finally spotted Meeko! Paul could barely contain his glee while I struggled to take some photos of him. If you don't already know, Paul loves raccoons, and especially Meeko. :)





We ended our night with some fun rides, heading back to our resort sometime after 1 a.m. It was an extremely long, extremely happy day.

Babies!

It's baby craziness right now, at least in my little world. I gained my first nephew and a new cousin within two weeks of each other, not to mention the royal baby a bit before that. Ha! Everywhere I look, babies!





Last weekend, Paul and I drove down to Spring Hill to meet our little nephew, Benjamin. He was only two days old at that point, and what a wonder! Besides my brother (fourteen years ago!), I don't remember ever holding a newborn before. It was terrifying and wonderful simultaneously. My sister handed him over to me, and all of a sudden, I was just overcome. My eyes started to tear up as I held this tiny little person--my nephew! I just couldn't believe it. My sister and her husband created this little guy, and he was just perfect.




After tearing ourselves away, we drove to Orlando to meet another new baby--my cousin, Brett Jr.! He is exactly two weeks older than Benjamin, and what a difference! He was already starting to fill out a bit, and what a cutie! He slept for most of our visit, though there was quite a bit of wiggling as I held him. Those cheeks--oh my. They're just perfectly plump and I wanted to kiss them like crazy. Maybe when he's a little older! :)




Though Paul didn't want to hold them (he was afraid of how fragile they are!), he did say how adorable they were. Not generically, mind you. He told me how most newborns are wrinkly and not all that cute, but these two, well, were perfect. They must have good genes. ;)



We gave each of them a book to start their little libraries. Corduroy for Benjamin, and Where the Wild Things Are for Brett. Two of my favorite picture books for two of my favorite guys. You can bet they'll be getting loads of books from me!

Disney World Honeymoon: Day Two

Our second day started slowly, but sweetly. We had beignets at the restaurant at our resort, then went for a short walk by the water with our coffees.


We then hopped the bus (so convenient!) to Animal Kingdom. It was beautiful. I didn't expect to love it nearly as much as I did, but it was truly like walking into a completely different world. The artists at Disney did an amazing job at recreating landscapes and settings. It might've been our very favorite park.

After grabbing some drinks at the Yak & Yeti (awesome), we hopped on the safari ride. One word: WOW! We had an entire row to ourselves on the truck, so I bounced from side to side snapping pictures while Paul just watched and took it all in.







This guy above slowed down our ride. He stood on the road for almost five minutes before he could be bothered to move! It was neat to see him close up as we passed.







We also stopped by the dinosaur area before going to the Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner. I wish I'd gotten more photos of the later afternoon. It was a relaxed day and we enjoyed the park completely.


We had dinner at Sanaa, which was absolutely delicious! Great drinks, and even better food! They just recently updated their menu, and did not disappoint. We started out with the bread service sampler... all sorts of naan and sauces! Paul got the vegetarian sampler as his entree, while I got some sort of seasonal dish. Both were amazing.
We had such a good day at Animal Kingdom and can't wait to go back!

Disney World Honeymoon: Evening One.

Our first evening at Disney World, we started out with a late dinner at Boatwright's Dining Hall. It's a at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort, just one over from where we were staying. The food here is New Orleans style, and we both loved it! Paul got the vegetarian jambalaya, while I tried the crawfish etouffee. YUM.


After stuffing ourselves, we boogied on down to the Magic Kingdom for the Electrical Parade. It was magical! I took photos of nearly every float, so maybe you can pretend you were there with us...



























After the parade, we were able to stay in the park thanks to being resort guests for the "Magic Hours". We stayed until about one in the morning riding everything that was open!







Finally, on our way out of the park, Paul noticed his very favorite Disney character: Meeko the Raccoon. It was absolutely adorable seeing him get so excited. We hadn't been able to find him anywhere until this point!
